Interesting fact
The 2½ Qirsh coin from Syria, minted between 1962 and 1965, was the first coin in the country to feature the new official emblem of Syria, which was introduced after the Ba'ath Party came to power in 1963. The emblem features a shield with two branches of olives on either side, symbolizing peace and prosperity. This coin was also the first to bear the image of the country's former president, Amin al-Hafiz, who ruled Syria from 1963 to 1966.
