Comment

The first design in the Chinese Lunar Year - Shēngxiào Collection, there were several different strikes for the Year of the Horse with varying compositions and denominations which all share Wuon-Gean Ho's design.

The proof and bullion issues both have plain fields but the bullion strike has an additional legend with the weight and fineness on the reverse.

The Uffington white horse featuring on the reverse is an ancient carving in the chalk hills of Oxfordshire, U.K.

This mule was created after the obverse die for the £2 Silver Britannia 1oz coin (with dentils around the edge) was paired with the reverse die for the £2 Year of the Horse silver coin. Approximately 38,000 were struck.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique "mule" design, which means that it has a mismatched obverse (front) and reverse (back) design, with the obverse featuring the standard portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse features a horse design that was originally intended for a different coin. This error was caused by a mistake in the minting process and resulted in a limited number of coins being produced with this unique design, making it a highly sought-after collector's item.
