12,000 coins were issued by the States of Jersey Education Committee in a special coin card to the island's local students and young people to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Jersey.
A few other coins were issued in a different anniversary wallet alongside the commemorative £1 banknote.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1995 Jersey 2 Pound coin is that it features a unique reverse design that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jersey from German occupation during World War II. The design depicts a group of people gathered around a flagpole, waving flags and celebrating their freedom. This coin is a symbol of the island's rich history and its connection to the British Crown.
