This coin was produced with both the 4th and 5th portraits of HM The Queen, only the 5th portrait was released into general circulation but for 100 Brilliant Uncirculated pieces of the 4th portrait issue which were put in the tills of the gift shop on HMS Belfast. The BU and Proof annual sets were struck with the fourth portrait dies.The coin was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof.
Reverse die error: some coins have what appears to be a pennant flying from the mast of the battleship (see more here).
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique reversible design, meaning the coin has two different sides that can be considered the front or back of the coin, depending on how it is oriented. This was done to symbolize the dual nature of the Royal Navy, which has a long history of both protecting and projecting British power around the world.
