Mary Shelley's anonymously published novel, which went into print on the 1st January 1818, was entitled "Frankenstein" or "The Modern Prometheus". It told the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a grotesque but compassionate creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment.Released as part of the 2018 annual Brilliant Uncirculated (18,900 sales)and Proof sets (11,509 sales) as well as available in an individual BU pack (17,280 sales) and third party tubes (17,479 sales), the design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof.
