The author of 66 detective novels and 150 short stories, Dame Agatha Christie is known as the Queen of Crime. Born in 1890, in Torquay, Devon, her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, was published in 1920.
Released as part of the 2020 annual Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof sets, as well as individually in a BU Pack, the design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof. The BU mintage comprised Annual coin sets (37,117 sales), individual Royal Mint packs (16,838 sales) and third party trade packaging (38,450 sales). The Proof mintages comprised Annual Proof sets (6,802 sales) and Annual Premium Proof sets (2,474 sales).
