Comment

Dubbed by some as the 'Mule Britannia', around 17,000; 2014 1oz Britannia bullion coins were struck using the obverse die intended for the Lunar Year of the Horse, which has a plain rim as opposed to the normal dentils of a Britannia, issue paired with the standard reverse die for the Britannia issue.

A Year of the Horse mule was also created after the obverse design of The Queen used for the £2 Silver Britannia 1oz coin(with dentils on the edge) was paired with the reverse design of the £2 Year of the Horse silver coin. Approximately 38,000 were struck.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it is a mule coin, meaning it has a unique combination of a 4th portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse (front) side, and a 1 oz fine silver content on the reverse (back) side. This makes it a rare and collectible coin among numismatists.
