Since its inception in 1997, the £2 Silver Britannia was struck in one Troy ounce of silver with a fineness of .958 (Britannia silver) and a diameter of 40mm. This changed with this issue in 2013, when the fineness was changed to .999 (fine silver) and the diameter reduced to 38.61 mm.This issue carries the same reverse legend as the previous issues 'ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER' with the same plain fields.
Introduced in 2013, privy marks have been added to a plain edge of the coins to commemorate the Chinese Lunar Year:

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. This fourth portrait of the Queen was introduced in 2013 and features a more mature and regal image of the monarch, with a slightly different crown and a more detailed rendition of her necklace and earrings. This portrait was used on several commemorative coins issued by the Royal Mint in 2013, including the 2 Pounds - Elizabeth II (4th portrait; 1 oz Fine Silver) coin .
