Since its inception in 1997, the £2 Silver Britannia was struck in one Troy ounce of silver with a fineness of .958 and a diameter of 40mm. This changed in 2013, when the fineness was changed to .999 and the diameter reduced to 38.61 mm, while in 2015 a new quality of bullion was released in the form of Brilliant Uncirculated.1998 Proof issue limit: 30,000 (10,000 in 4-coin Silver Proof sets, 20,000 as individual pieces);

The 2002 strike was issued in a 4-coin design set including other 1oz Britannia coins from 1999, 2001 and 2003. As well as available individually.
2004 and 2006 strikes were only issued individually.

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, which was used on British coins from 1998 to 2012.
