Comment
Despite being available at face value from most post offices and banks, the ordinary business strike was a Royal Mint commemorative issue and not intended for general circulation. While not part of the Annual Brilliant Uncirculated Set for 1989, this coin was released as part of the Annual Proof sets, in a BU 2-coin set with the Bill of Rights £2 and as individual pieces. The design was also struck in silver proof and silver piedfort.Above - 1989 Deluxe Proof Set
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique reverse design, depicting a stylized image of the Queen's head, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, and the words "Claim of Right" inscribed above the Queen's head. This design was created by sculptor and engraver, Raphael Maklouf, and was specifically commissioned for this coin to commemorate the Bill of Rights of 1689, which granted certain rights and freedoms to the subjects of the British Crown.
