Comment
This was a special commemorative issue related to the coronation of Edward VII, the only other two pound coin struck in Australia, also at the Sydney mint, was in 1887 for the Jubilee of Queen Victoria. After the closure of the Sydney mint in 1926 the dies for this coin were brought to the Melbourne mint and may have been employed there before being defaced and sent to the Dixon Collection in Sydney (now in the State Library of New South Wales, Dixon Collection).Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1902 Australian 2 Pound Edward VII (Coronation) coin is that it was minted to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII, and it features a unique design that includes a portrait of the king in his coronation robes, along with various symbols and motifs that reflect the monarch's power and status. Additionally, the coin's gold content and limited mintage make it a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
