The company was founded in 1885 by the businessman Emil Kollmar (1860-1939) and the technician Wilhelm Jourdan (1855-1925). In 1901 around 400 workers were employed at Kollmar & Jourdan.

Interesting fact

The 1916 Pforzheim 2 Pfennigs coin is notable for its unique design, which features a stylized image of a horse and rider on the obverse (front side), surrounded by the inscription "Kollmar und Jourdan A.G." and the year "1916". This design was created by the artist Karl Goetz, who was a prominent medalist and coin designer in Germany during the early 20th century. The reverse (back side) of the coin bears the coat of arms of the City of Pforzheim, which includes a shield with three roses and a crown. This coin is a rare and valuable collector's item, with only a limited number minted during its production run.
