Comment

The Phrygian cap is a soft cone-shaped headgear with the top facing towards and falls back a little. This hat was originally made and worn by the inhabitants of Phrygia (Asia Minor), but in the Roman Empire the cap was worn by freed slaves. This custom is at the origin of it as a symbol of freedom.

Interesting fact

The 2 Pesetas (Euzkadi) coin from 1937 features a unique design that reflects the cultural and political history of the Basque region in Spain. The coin's obverse side features an image of a Basque woman wearing a traditional headdress and holding a sheaf of grain, symbolizing the region's rich agricultural heritage. The reverse side bears an image of a tree, representing the Basque people's connection to the land and their commitment to preserving their cultural identity. The coin's design was created by the artist Xavier de Salas, who was known for his work in promoting Basque culture and art.
