Comment

The standard weight of this coin was 1/33 troy ounce or 14.5 grains.

Two (or possibly three) dates of this coin, 1838, (1843 and) 1848, were struck for circulation in British Guiana and parts of the British West Indies (Krause reports three, Spink only two). In British Guiana, they were equivalent to 1/8 guilder.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 2 Pence Victoria coin is that it was minted with a silver composition of .925, which is unusual for a circulating coin. Most coins of that time were made of copper or bronze, so the use of silver for this coin makes it stand out. Additionally, the fact that it was minted for both colonial and Maundy issues adds to its historical significance and collectibility.
