Comment
The word 'NEW' was dropped from the reverse of the currency issues in 1982 but a number of 2 pence coins were struck in 1983 with the incorrect reverse die. Reports suggest that these error coins, or 'mules', were contained in some Brilliant Uncirculated sets packed by the Royal Mint for Heinz and Martini issued in 1983.Images of the Martini Set:
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1983 Elizabeth II (2nd portrait; mule) 2 Pence coin from the United Kingdom is that it features a rare error, known as a "mule" error, where the obverse die (featuring the Queen's portrait) was accidentally paired with a reverse die (featuring the 2 pence design) from a different coin. This resulted in a unique combination of designs that is highly sought after by collectors.
