Comment
Approximately 600,000 storks fly over the skies of Israel twice a year, since the small land bridge of Israel provides one of the most important migration routes in the world. The special relationship between humans and storks has been expressed in many different stories and legends. The stork is known as the "habinger of Spring" as well as the "deliverer of babies", because it chooses to build its own nest close top people.Storks also nest in high trees on the Israeli landscape. The connection between the two is mentioned in the Book of Psalms "As for the stork, the fir-trees are her house" (Psalms 104:17).
Interesting fact
The Stork and Fir Tree coin was designed by Israeli artist, Yitzhak Hakov, and it features a stork perched on a fir tree branch, surrounded by a scenic landscape. The stork is a symbol of new life and renewal, which is fitting given that the coin was minted in 1999, marking the start of a new millennium.
