Due to the very low silver content, this coin is described either as billon or copper. This type is differentiated from a similar type of Philip the Good by having a long cross reverse, and the title DUke of Burgundy obverse (reference below)
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during a time of great political and economic change in the region. Philip the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, had recently established a new monetary system in an effort to stabilize the economy and promote trade. The introduction of the 2 Mites coin, which was equal to one-eighth of a silver groat, was part of this effort. Despite the challenges of the time, the coin remained in circulation for several decades, indicating its success in facilitating commerce in the region.
