Interesting fact
The Pattern 2 Lei coin was designed by the Romanian engraver, Ion N. Lahovary, and it features a depiction of the Romanian coat of arms on the obverse side, while the reverse side shows the denomination and the year of issue. The coin was minted in 1872, during the reign of King Carol I, and it was intended to be used as a pattern coin for the Romanian currency. However, it was never officially released into circulation, making it a rare and valuable collector's item for numismatists.
