The commemorative coin is dedicated to Petro Hryhorenko (1907 – 1987) – a public and political figure, military theorist and famous advocate of human rights. Petro Hryhorenko was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, he advocated return of the Crimean Tatars to their historical Motherland, the right of Ukraine and other peoples of the USSR for independence.
