The commemorative coin is dedicated to the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games (the 14th Paralympics) to be held in London, the home of the world Paralympic movement, as well as to this movement in Ukraine backed by the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine, Ukrainian Center of Physical Training and Sports for the Disabled 'Invasport' and others, whose rate of development is among the highest in the world.

The 2 Hryvni (Paralympic Games) 2012 coin from Ukraine features a unique design that incorporates Braille letters and tactile elements to commemorate the Paralympic Games.
