The coin is dedicated to the birth centenary of Mykola P.Bazhan (1904 - 1983), a poet, editor, specialist in drama study, film critic, script writer, translator, state and public figure. He was born in the town of Kamianets-Podilskyi (now Khmelnytsk region). Mykola P.Bazhan was a man of great learning, a person of encyclopedic knowledge, an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR (1951), an honored worker of science of the UkrSSR (1966), whose sphere of interest covered almost all fields of cultural life of Ukraine. He was an initiator and scientific supervisor of the 'Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia' publication. Though above all, Bazhan went down in the history of Ukraine as a poet.
