The commemorative coin has been issued in pursuance of the President of Ukraine's Decree 'On Commemoration of Outstanding Figures of the Ukrainian People's Republic and West Ukrainian People's Republic' № 793 of May 16, 2005, and is dedicated to a Ukrainian legal expert, public and state figure, head of the Government of the West Ukrainian People's Republic - Kost' Levytskyi.Interesting fact
The coin features an image of Kost' Levytskyi, a Ukrainian poet and writer, on its obverse side. The reverse side of the coin depicts a scene from Levytskyi's most famous work, "The Tale of the Ukrainian People," which tells the story of a group of Ukrainians who fought against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 17th century. The coin's design was created by Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Demianenko.
