The commemorative coin is dedicated to Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky, a pioneer of aviation, designer of aircrafts and helicopters, an industrialist. When studying at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (1907-1914) he set to work on development of the first helicopters to be. From 1910 Igor Sikorsky constructed aircrafts. The first multi-engine aircrafts in the world - 'Le Grand', 'Ilya Muromets', 'Russky Vityaz' - were of his design.
