The commemorative coin is dedicated to the hundredth anniversary of ice hockey in Ukraine. The date of publication of the Official Ice Hockey Rules in Ukrainian under the editorship of I.Boberskyi in 1910 has been chosen the terminus a quo for the ice hockey history in Ukraine. At that date the ice hockey was one of the most popular winter sports in Lviv.

Interesting fact

The interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted to commemorate the 2010 IIHF World Championship, which was held in Ukraine. The coin features an image of a hockey player in action on one side and the Ukrainian coat of arms on the other.
