Comment
Spyros Louis (1873-1940), a water carrier from Marousi, a suburb of Athens, was the winner of the first Olympic marathon when the Olympic Games were revived in Athens in 1896. His triumphant entry into the Panathenaic Stadium was cheered by 80,000 spectators.The coin was issued in bankrolls, in Proof quality in box with certificate of authenticity and in BU quality on a coincard blister.
Interesting fact
The coin's design features a depiction of Spyridon Louis, a Greek water carrier who became a national hero after winning the 1896 Olympic marathon, on the obverse (front side), while the reverse (back side) features a stylized image of the Acropolis, a famous ancient Greek monument in Athens.
