Comment
Spain started the commemorative coin series “Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO” (UNESCO World Heritage) in 2010, commemorating all of Spain's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which could continue until 2050. The order in which the coin for a specific site is issued coincides with the order in which they were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Declared a World Heritage Site in 1986, Cáceres has an exceptionally well-preserved historic center of great unity that illustrates the passage of different cultures. Its origins can be traced back to Roman, Visigothic, Islamic, Gothic and Renaissance times, including an old Jewish quarter in the current Barrio de San Antonio. This set is included within a walled enclosure of approximately 1200 m. long, of Almohad origin, often hidden behind buildings from a later period.
