Comment
1918 was a momentous year for the three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: all three countries freed themselves from foreign rule and founded independent states. Now, 100 years later, we have much more in common than just our history, as we are united by the European Union and the shared currency we use, the euro. To mark the centenary of the Baltic States, Eesti Pank, Latvijas Banka and Lietuvos bankas decided to issue a €2 commemorative coin with the same design for all three countries.Date of issue 31-01-2018
Interesting fact
The 2 Euro commemorative coin from Lithuania, issued in 2018 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Baltic States, features a unique design that incorporates a nickel brass clad nickel center in a copper-nickel ring. This bi-metallic composition gives the coin a distinctive look and feel, and it's a notable departure from the standard Euro coin design.
