Comment

Zöttl presents this coin in a commemorative serie from 12 Ducat to this 5 kreuzer, for the 1200 anniversary of the monastery. However, 1200 years before 1792, nothing happens in Salzburg. The rebirth of Juvavum due to St Ruppert was around 700 AD, a century later. If we consider the word "Jubilaeum" to refer to 50 year periods, then we talk of 600th anniversary, and hence probably the consecration of the former cathedral to St Peter in 1147. The word "Dom" in Austria is used for Cathedrals and the Salzburger Dom is actually St Peter.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted to commemorate the 12th Jubilee of Hiéronymus von Colloredo, who was the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg from 1771 to 1803. The coin's design features an image of von Colloredo on one side and the Salzburg coat of arms on the other. The coin's gold content and weight also make it a valuable and collectible item for numismatists.
