APOLLO 11 (July 1969). The historic mission, which took off on July 16, 1969. On the night of July 20-21, Neil Armstrong becomes the first man to walk on the Moon, declaring after placing his left foot on the ground: "That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for Mankind". Nineteen minutes later, Buzz Aldrin came out and said: "It may have been a small step for Neil. But it's a pretty big leap for me". He described the lunar landscape as "Magnificent desolation".
