Interesting fact
The Brontosaurus featured on the coin is actually a misidentification. The coin's design is based on a 1979 painting by artist Robert Bakker, which depicted a Brontosaurus. However, the painting was later found to be inaccurate, and the dinosaur was actually a different species, known as a Sauroposeidon. Despite this, the coin's design was already in production, and it was decided to keep the Brontosaurus image. This has led to a unique and interesting story behind the coin's design.
