The world famous Welcome Stranger nugget is the largest-known alluvial gold nugget ever found, estimated to weigh a total of 72 kilos and containing almost 2,300oz of gold. After its discovery in 1869 it sold for about 10,000 British pounds,The nugget was discovered near the Victorian goldfields town of Moliagul by John Deason on 5 February 1869.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
No more than 15,000 of the Welcome Stranger 2020 2oz Silver Bullion Piedfort Coin will be released worldwide.
