Reverse
Kookaburra on a branch (similar to KM# 616) with a special privy mark depicting the overlapping reverse and obverse designs of an English Hammered Silver King Edward penny, struck between 1272-1327 AD. Known as the Long Cross Penny, as depicted on the reverse, the long cross design was introduced during this period to alleviate the problem of people ‘clipping’ the coin edges. A stylized, non-realistic portrait of the reigning English Monarch, Edward I, is shown on the obverse.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique "hammered" finish, which gives it a textured and slightly irregular surface. This was achieved through a special minting process that involved striking the coin multiple times with a hammer to create a distinctive, hand-crafted look. This finish is particularly fitting for the coin's depiction of the Australian kookaburra, a bird known for its distinctive call and playful nature. The hammered finish adds a tactile element to the coin, making it stand out from other coins and creating a sense of connection to the natural world.
