The Kotuku is one of New Zealand's rarest birds and held in high regard in Maori mythology. These $2 coins have been minted at various different Mints over the years.Interesting fact
The 2 Dollar coin featuring Elizabeth II (4th Portrait) from New Zealand was the first bi-metallic coin to be introduced in the country. It was introduced in 1999 and features a nickel-brass center surrounded by an aluminum-bronze ring. This unique design was chosen to make the coin more durable and resistant to wear and tear, as well as to make it easily distinguishable from other coins in circulation.
