This year marks the 225th anniversary of the Irish Rebellion of 1798, the largest uprising in Irish history. The rebellion is still commemorated to this day, for it spurred on the Irish public to keep fighting for their freedom – freedom which was ultimately gained 124 years later
Although Ireland did not win this battle, it marked a turning point in Irish history. During the same time, the American War for Independence as well as the French Revolution set the tone for the world that it was ready for change and the birth of new nations. Ireland would continue its fight for independence until 1921 with the signing of The Treaty (An Conradh Angla-Éireannach).
