Interesting fact

The 2 cent coin was the lowest denomination coin in circulation in New Zealand at the time, and it was also the first coin to feature the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was introduced in 1986. This portrait was designed by sculptor Raphael Maklouf and features a more mature image of the Queen, with a slightly different hairstyle and a more defined jawline. The coin's design also includes the inscription "ELIZABETH II" and "NEW ZEALAND" on either side of the Queen's image, as well as the date of issue and the coin's denomination.
