Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 2 Cents - Elizabeth II (2nd portrait) 1976-1985 from Tuvalu is that it was the first coin to feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that was not designed by Arnold Machin, who had created the iconic effigy of the Queen that had been used on coins since 1968. Instead, the portrait on the Tuvaluan 2 cents coin was designed by sculptor and engraver, Raphael Maklouf. This change in design was a departure from the traditional depiction of the Queen and was seen as a bold move by the Tuvaluan government.
