Comment
This pre-series is also a test of a 17mm module instead of 16mm. The listel is very thin. The "2" on the face is much larger than on the normal pre-series, and the legends are very close to the listel. The corner is different from that of the 1960 pre-series.Interesting fact
The Pattern 2 Centimes Epi coin was designed by French artist and engraver, Albert Decaris, who was known for his work on various French coins and postage stamps. Decaris' design for the Pattern 2 Centimes Epi coin features a stylized portrait of a young woman, representing the Republic of France, on the obverse (front side), and a stylized image of a wheat sheaf on the reverse (back side). The coin's unique double-sided design was a result of a decision to test two different designs on the same coin, which is why it's known as a "double revers" coin. This interesting fact adds to the coin's historical significance and value among collectors.
