Comment

The iron 2 Cash pieces are said to have been cast in the Shaanxi region, although there are two notable exceptions: Baofengxia Mint, which cast these pieces to export to Shaanxi; and Xunzhou Mint, which cast these pieces in Shaanxi-style.

There are also many mints within the same circut as various Shaanxi mints, located in Gansu, Henan, and Shanxi, which may have also cast these iron 2 Cash pieces.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique crescent shape on one side, which was a design element that was introduced during the Yuanfeng era (1078-1085) of the Northern Song dynasty. This crescent shape was meant to symbolize the moon and its association with the night, and it was believed to have been added to the coin design to help distinguish it from other coins in circulation. The use of iron in the production of this coin was also significant, as it was a departure from the traditional use of copper and other metals in Chinese coinage, and it reflected the growing influence of iron technology in China during this period.
