Comment

In 1071, these coins were issued at 10 Cash to meet military expenses, but they were later de-valued to 3 Cash, then to 2 Cash in 1073. It is difficult to distinguish which coins were issued as 10, 3, or 2 Cash coins.

Hartill's example of this script is visibly smaller than other coins of the same denomination.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin 2 Cash - Xining (Zhongbao; Clerical script) ND (1071-1077) from Empire of China made of Bronze is that it features a unique blend of Buddhist and traditional Chinese symbols. The obverse side of the coin depicts a seated Buddha, while the reverse side features the Chinese character for "zhong" (中), which means "central" or "middle," signifying the coin's status as a standard circulation coin. This blend of religious and cultural symbols reflects the complex and multifaceted nature of Chinese society during the Northern Song dynasty, when Buddhism and traditional Chinese culture coexisted and influenced each other.
