One interesting fact about this coin is that it was produced during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty, who ruled from 1127 to 1162. During his reign, the government issued a new currency called the "yuanbao," which was made of bronze and had a standardized weight and size. This coin, the 2 cash yuanbao, was one of the denominations issued during this time and was used widely in trade and commerce throughout the empire.
