The 2 Baiocchi coin from the Papal States, issued during the reign of Pope Pius VI (1785-1797), features an interesting design element. On the obverse side, the coin bears the image of the Pope's crowned bust, surrounded by the inscription "PIUS VI PONT MAX." However, the reverse side of the coin depicts a unique symbol - a pair of crossed keys, which represent the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and the Papal States, respectively. This design was used to signify the Pope's authority and his role as the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church.
