Zeus standing to left, holding rober with left hand, extending right hand, monogram in left field.
Script: Greek
Lettering: ΔΙΟΣΙΕΡΙΤΩΝ ΚΟΡΒΟΥΛΩΝ
Translation: Korboulon from Dios Hieron
Comment
Zeus is sometimes described as holding a patera without this being really visible.Although the majority of copies of this type are of poor quality, the engraving style of the right hand could rather show an empty "V" shaped hand, as found on various pieces of Greek workshops.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of the Roman emperor Nero, who ruled from 54 to 68 AD, on one side, and the Greek inscription "ΔΙΟΣΙΕΡΙΤΩΝ ΚΟΡΒΟΥΛΩΝ" (Dios Hieron) meaning "sacred to the gods" on the other side. This coin was minted in the city of Ephesus, which was an important center of trade and culture in the ancient Roman Empire.
