Interesting fact
The obverse (front) side of the coin features a helmeted head of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts. The helmet is decorated with a large crest, which is a common feature on ancient Greek coins. The use of Athena's image on the coin may indicate that the island of Tenos was under Athenian influence or control during this time period.
