Interesting fact
The Pattern 16 Pesos coin from Colombia was designed by the French engraver, Jean-Baptiste Mercier, who was commissioned by the Colombian government to create a new coinage system for the country. Mercier's design features a depiction of the Colombian national hero, Simón Bolívar, on the obverse side of the coin, and a depiction of the Andean condor on the reverse side. The coin was minted in copper and was intended to be used as a standard circulating coin, but it was never widely circulated and is now considered a rare and valuable collector's item.
