The reverse depicts the Birkebeiners, a motive from Knud Bergsliens painting from 1869. The motive is inspired by the rescue of the one and a half year old, crown prince Håkon Håkonsson from Lillehammer, to Østerdalen and finally to Trondheim, in 1205-1206.
