The Cesma Sea Battle was one of the major sea-fights of the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774. The Russian fleet under the command of Admiral G.A. Spiridov blocked the Turkish fleet in the Bay of Cesma on the coast of Asia Minor and routed it. It ensured Russia instituting control over the Aegean Sea and the Dardanelles.
