Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (28 August 1749 – 22 March 1832) was a German writer and statesman. His works include four novels; epic and lyric poetry; prose and verse dramas; memoirs; an autobiography; literary and aesthetic criticism; and treatises on botany, anatomy, and colour. In addition, there are numerous literary and scientific fragments, more than 10,000 letters, and nearly 3,000 drawings by him extant.

Interesting fact

The 150 Guaraníes coin featuring Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, issued in 1973 by Paraguay, is a non-circulating coin made of .999 silver and weighs 25 grams. Despite its relatively small size, this coin is considered a rare and valuable collector's item among numismatists due to its limited mintage and the fact that it was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Goethe's birth. As a result, it can fetch a high price at auctions and online marketplaces.
