The third issue of the Perth Mint Lunar Series III, the Year of the Tiger 1/10oz gold bullion coin was released for sale on the 13 September 2021. The Perth Mint also announced the simultaneous release of the 1/4oz, the 1/2oz, the 1oz, the 2oz and the 10oz gold bullion coins on the same date. The 1/20oz will be released on a later date.Except for the 1oz gold bullion coin, which has a limited mintage of 30,000, mintages for all the other gold coins are unlimited. The Perth Mint will cease production at the end of 2022 and will announce the final mintage figures then.
As with previous years, a 1/10 gold proof coin was also released. Each coin is presented in a prestigious red display case with a magnetic lid, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. The issue limit for this proof version is 2,500 and maximum mintage is 5,000. The case is adorned with gold lettering and a geometric design and packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper. When aligned with shippers from the other 11 coins in the series, the resulting diorama depicts all 12 animals participating in The Great Race, a traditional Chinese story about the creation of the lunar calendar.
