François Frédéric Antoine de Saxe-Cobourg-Saalfeld, born on July 15, 1750 and died on December 9, 1806, was Duke of Saxe-Cobourg-Saalfeld from 1800 to 1806.François de Saxe-Cobourg-Saalfeld, who died at the age of 56 in 1806, was the ancestor of many European monarchs of the 19th and 20th centuries: he was the father of King Leopold I of Belgium, the grandfather of Victoria of the United Kingdom and her husband, Prince-Consort Albert, of Kings Ferdinand II of Portugal and Ferdinand I of Bulgaria, and of Empress Charlotte of Mexico. Other descendants ascended the thrones of Germany in 1888, Russia in 1894, Spain in 1906, Sweden in 1973 and Luxembourg in 2001.
Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld was a Saxon duchy from 1735 to 1825.
After the Saxe-Coburg line died out in 1699, Saxe-Saalfeld claimed its inheritance, but only obtained satisfaction after imperial arbitration in 1735. The Dukes of Saxe-Saalfeld then became Dukes of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.
Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld disappeared in 1825, after the Saxon duchies were reorganized following the extinction of the Saxe-Gotha line. Ernest III of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld received Gotha, but had to cede Saalfeld to Saxe-Meiningen. From then on, he took the name Ernest I de Saxe-Cobourg et Gotha.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during a time of great political and economic change in Europe. The Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld was a small state in what is now Germany, and the coin was minted during the reign of Francis Frederick Anthony, who was the Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld from 1804 to 1806. This was a time of great upheaval in Europe, with the Napoleonic Wars and the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, and the coin reflects the economic and political changes that were taking place during this period.
