Slg. Noss II, 382Interesting fact
The 12 Kreuzer coin from the Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken was minted during a time of great economic and political change in Europe. The Thirty Years War had just begun, and the coin was used to help finance the military efforts of the Duchy. Despite the turmoil of the time, the coin was well-made and features a detailed image of John II, also known as "Kipper," on one side, and the coat of arms of the Duchy on the other. The use of silver in the coin's minting also speaks to the wealth and resources of the region at the time.
